The Art of Deliberate Success for People Managers

Presented by the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand
Led by Dr David Keane

Introduction

Every good people manager knows that how you manage yourself has a huge influence on how other people see you. People who are good at managing themselves are not only better managers, but they create far more success in their professional and personal lives. Being successful in this way is a skill that can be learned and perfected. And this course shows you how.

The course is based on the original research of Dr David Keane, who for over twenty-four years has systematically studied the professional and personal lives of people from all walks of life. It teaches the important idea that all real success is a deliberate process involving careful attention to 10 keys aspects of your life.

Two weeks following the course, every participant will have a one-hour personal coaching session with Dr Keane.

Level: General

Course Description

This highly interactive course – which is limited to just 16 participants – is delivered in a workshop format so that participants have an opportunity to explore the topic of deliberate success in detail. This means that you absorb the ideas presented, customise them for your unique circumstances, and leave the workshop with a definite action plan that will work for you. Then, for two weeks following the course, you try out various ideas in your professional and personal life so that you can maximise the benefit of your personal coaching session.

The course takes an inside-out approach, meaning that we begin with asking the question: What does success mean for me? Once you have clarity on this question we explore various tools and techniques that are designed to improve your personal effectiveness and success. And with this “inside” work done, you become a better leader of yourself and consequently of others.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand and practically apply a range of tools and techniques adopted by successful people;

  • Identify your own unique method of work so you and those around you can be more productive;

  • Gain greater alignment between what is important to you and what you actually spend your time doing;

Who Should Attend

This course is for people managers of all kinds who want to become more effective in their professional and personal life.

Course Content

The content is structured around the Art of Deliberate Success® framework which is a way of thinking and acting in your professional and personal life that leads you to becoming truly successful. The DELIBERATE framework is built on the idea that you can deliberately and consciously place your focus on 10 distinct aspects of your life to achieve extraordinary results.

These 10 aspects are represented by a single D∙E∙L∙I∙B∙E∙R∙A∙T∙E letter and colour. The workshop gives you powerful tools and techniques in each area, and shows you to put them together to become the artist of your own professional and personal life. Further information is available from Dr Keane’s website.
