Introduction
The Refresh HR programme is a series of 3 hour workshops that cover one area of HR. You can attend the whole programme or pick the workshops that best suit your needs. The focus of the programme is to learn how to put HR theory into practice in the real world. The programme also takes you through how to deal effectively with the challenges you will encounter when working with senior leaders, managers and employees.
Course Description
This workshop has been designed to take you through some of the more complex Employment Relations issues you may face in an HR role. It follows on from the ‘Employment Relations’ workshops which covered the key points of the Employment Relations Act and amendments (meal breaks, flexible working, trial periods), good faith, individual and collective employment agreements required clauses and useful clauses and casuals and part timers/fixed terms.
This workshop is interactive, and will include discussions of differing situations.
Subjects Covered
- How to deal with restraint of trades and what happened in real cases. We will analyse four cases to really understand how to word restraints and enforce them.
- Useful executive level clauses and how to enforce them. We will look at a case study and see which clauses would apply if a CEO was to be dismissed.
- Negotiating settlements – what you need to know; including making payments under section 123(1)(c)(i), how 'without prejudice' applies, calderbank offers and key points to include in a settlement.
- Dealing effectively with union conflicts; including tips and techinques on a range of situations.
- How to respond to Personal Grievances and prepare for mediation. We will cover what the process is and work through a case study of a personal grievance letter including preparing a response.
Who Should Attend
This programme is for anyone who wants to learn how to make HR work effectively in their workplace. This may be HR Coordinators, Advisors, Officers or Managers in the first few years of their HR career as well as students. Some of the workshops may also be useful for recruiters to attend. Learning and Development professionals who work as part of their company HR team have also found some of the employment law workshops useful.
